The October Cohort Has Started: Future Developers Are Writing Code at PeerStack Academy

Every piece of code has a first line. In October, the students of PeerStack Academy’s new cohort wrote theirs. For some, it was the start of a decision they’d put off for months. For others, it was the first step toward an IT career they’d dreamed about for years. This group has 50+ people, and each has their own story. Some are at university and want real skills before graduation. Some come from another field and are ready to rebuild their careers. Some simply said “I can do this too” and took the risk. The stories differ, but the goal is shared: to learn coding through practice and join a team as a developer. There are many IT courses in Baku, and choosing among programming courses isn’t easy. What sets this group apart is how they got into the classroom. Candidates were chosen not by grades or a diploma alone, but by their motivation and goals. Coding can be taught, but the desire to learn can’t. The scholarship is for those who show that desire. In the October cohort, those who want to become frontend developers learn interfaces, backend developers learn the logic behind the system, and fullstack developers learn both together. The SWE — Go, Rust track goes deeper into systems programming. Every program ends with a portfolio project, and a mentor is there when students get stuck. This is only the beginning at PeerStack Academy. In the coming months, we’ll share which projects these students are building and which challenges they’re working through.

Classes are held in four tracks this term: Frontend: building the interfaces users see and touch Backend: the server, logic and database behind the system Fullstack: creating a complete product that handles both front and back SWE — Go, Rust: deeper systems programming and performance-oriented solutions Each program focuses on practical skills and portfolio projects.
